East African Portland Cement PLC (EAPCC) increased revenue by 28% to KSh9.07 billion in the year ended June 2026, supported by a strong recovery in cement production and sales. However, higher operating costs and a lower gain from investment property weighed on profitability.
The cement maker’s audited results show that production grew 30% year-on-year, while sales volumes rose 29%, reflecting improved demand and operational performance. Revenue increased from KSh7.08 billion in the previous financial year.
Gross profit rose 15.5% to KSh1.20 billion from KSh1.04 billion. However, the company recorded an operating loss of KSh52.4 million, compared with an operating profit of KSh1.64 billion a year earlier.
Profit after tax fell 68.6% to KSh1.58 billion from KSh5.02 billion, while earnings per share declined to KSh17.55 from KSh55.82.
The drop in reported profit was partly influenced by a smaller fair value gain on investment property, which fell to KSh1.91 billion from KSh3.90 billion. The company also cited business reorganisation costs and higher energy and distribution expenses.
Shareholders’ Equity
EAPCC’s total assets increased to KSh51.96 billion from KSh50.31 billion, while shareholders’ equity rose to KSh34.01 billion. However, cash and cash equivalents declined to KSh648.6 million from KSh683.8 million, and cash used in operating activities stood at KSh318.97 million.
The board has not recommended a dividend for the year, saying it intends to preserve cash for capacity expansion.
East African Portland Cement expects infrastructure projects to support cement demand and says it will prioritise improving plant efficiency, sourcing and production capacity.
