Kenya has signed a Ksh390 billion ($3 billion) deal with Endelevu Enterprise Corporation to develop an integrated electric mobility industry locally.

The project will go beyond vehicle assembly, with plans for a plant capable of producing 50,000 four-wheel electric vehicles annually, another facility for up to 100,000 two-wheelers and light mobility vehicles, and 1,000 solar-powered charging hubs across the country.

A digital platform will also be developed to support as many as 100,000 green vehicles.

The investment is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs while building local capabilities in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, charging infrastructure and fleet management. People Daily

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Nairobi on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, President William Ruto said the investment would help Kenya stop exporting jobs by shifting from importing finished vehicles to adding value locally.

“We are determined to change that equation,” Ruto said

The deal comes as Kenya accelerates its e-mobility push. The government launched its National Electric Mobility Policy earlier this year, while the country had registered 39,324 EVs by 2025, according to the Ministry of Roads and Transport
