Elon Musk has unveiled Tesla’s flying car as the next-generation Roadster and is being pitched as a high-performance electric sports car with extreme acceleration and potential rocket-style thrusters.

“Real life, baby,” said Tesla in a video showing the vehicle travelling upside down along a curved ramp, briefly lifting off and landing again.

Elon Musk later posted on his X account saying, “Turns out the future does have flying cars.”

However, the demonstration does not prove that the production car can fly or perform such manoeuvres safely in real-world conditions.

Tesla’s vision goes beyond speed, with proposed advanced propulsion technology, aircraft-inspired styling, pressure-vessel systems and a minimalist interior.

The goal is to push the boundaries of what an electric sports car can do, although the full capabilities of the production model remain to be demonstrated.
