The NSE’s Nairobi All Share Index (NASI) fell 1.86% to 240.5 points, while market capitalisation stood at KSh4.08 trillion, equivalent to approximately $31.6 billion. The decline came despite gains by some listed companies.

Across 17 published exchanges, 123 stocks advanced, 128 declined and 257 remained unchanged, indicating slightly more declining than advancing stocks.
However, performance varied across markets. Ghana’s stock market led the published index rankings, with the Ghana Stock Exchange Composite Index gaining 1.59% to close at 14,396.17 points. Its market capitalisation stood at GH¢271.26 billion ($24.8 billion).

Elsewhere, Asarian Energy Limited (AAE) on Namibia’s stock exchange recorded the strongest individual stock gain across the tracked markets, surging 14.82%.
For investors, the NSE’s weak start to the week puts market direction and individual stock performance firmly in focus as trading continues.
